Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed not shutting down Oct 1st
NFS: Porsche Unleashed not shutting down Oct 1st
EA decided to let PU idle until it dies (because of lack of a stats server which allows new players to register and keeps track of the times, etc.). Thus, they will not shut down online racing as a whole on October, 1st.
On the other hand a small group of players are analyzing the protocols and might have found their own solution to allow online racing with stats before EA finally kills the game.

Gunbound
GunBound
Looking like a Worms World Party clone, GunBound is 100mb of quick, korean online pleasure. As more people all over the world discover it, I might start playing it again. It does not actually take "skill" to play but it is meant to be just a game, rrright? Gonna try to download it tonight.
I also bought WC3: Frozen Throne this week and took part in a 1vs1 battle.net tournament on Friday. And lost. Because of ZERO practice... TFT features random and arranged 4vs4 games btw, might be good for some laggy chaos runs sooner or later.

TTDPatch - The Transport Tycoon Deluxe Patch
TTDPatch - The Transport Tycoon Deluxe Patch
On a bored trip through the web I found a patch (with WinXP compatibility!) for the greatest game ever: Transport Tycoon (Deluxe).
Back in the day we used to play it peer-to-peer having great fun - 24 hours a day for like 3 days straight, then sleep 24 hours... repeat.
It's kinda tricky to get the patch running on full screen and with sound support but once you are done generating a config file you realize that these guys seriously patched the game, adding new AI options, bigger stations, even new trains, trucks and ships with their own player-made graphic packs! They put lots of effort into it and they managed to create a new, better Transport Tycoon which runs on Windows XP.
Viva La 90s!
